  1. Florida - 1992 - HURRICANE ANDREW
  2.       On August 24, with sustained winds of 145 mph and gusts between 175 - 200 mph Hurricane Andrew wreaked devastation on the southern tip of Florida.  More than 80,000 homes were demolished, and 43 people died due to the storm.
